50 shades of fall

50 shades of fall

So today it is 90 degrees here in San Diego and it seems a bit strange to talk about fall colors right before running to the beach…but I suppose that’s a typical October day for us here in SoCal.

The pumpkin patches are at every corner and I am sure a bit more inland the leaves are even changing colors ….

I however look out of my patio door and see the never changing but always imposing palm trees and if I breathe deeply I can even savor the salty ocean water, so I try to recreate the feel off Fall indoor in my floral designs and at the shop in our ever changing seasonal stem bar.

This week I swapped out the soft pastel shades of blush and lavender( no no not all of them ;) ) for the burnt oranges, the deep yellows, the burgundy, the blues , the maroons and the deep purples.

Here are some of my fall must haves:

1- Celosia Cockscomb

they are bright and textural gems that bring any arrangements to life.

2- Blooming Kales

These add a touch of Farm-To- Table to your designs, a little touch of rustic so to speak.

3- Red and yellow Mokara Orchids

These are elegant and exotic and bring a touch of elegance to any fall designs.

4- Pin Cushion Proteas

Hardy and texturally fun they lend themselves to a number of designs and style and are great in vase designs as well as floralFoam designs.

5- Black mini callas

They are like you “little Black Dress”, simply a must have for any upscale design.

6- Peach, tan and maroon Cymbidium orchids

Orchids are an easy way to add elegance to any design, they are one of your “Wow” factor, not to mention they are super long lasting (just make sure the water tubes don’t run out of water!)

7- Solidaster

it’s yellow whimsy sprays are such an easy delicate way to add little touches of brightness to your design.

8-Red Charm Peony

There is no flower that packs more elegance than a peony.

9- Mayra’s red -Garden Roses

So many petals and such a great deep tone!

10- Anthurium Cocoa

These are so elegant and are such a gorgeous shade of light brown that is just perfect for the season!
