Falling For Fall

This is probably my favorite time of the year. I love fall colors and how rich the seasonal tones are not to mention all the fun textures as I mentioned in previous posts.

Here is one of our new fall designs I created by mixing sunflowers which are pretty much a fall staple with one of my favorite fall flowers, Pin Cushion Proteas.

The idea was to create a modern spin for a centerpiece, I think being Italian the fall often symbolizes long and fun family dinners so I wanted to design something that would compliment a dinner table by adding some sculpted architectural elements and a clean cut ceramic elongated container.

Often times dinner tables are pretty colorful and busy so I decided to keep[ the design pretty minimal, I didn't want to have too many colors and too many different element fearing they could just get lost within the surroundings.

Mini Sunflowers - I often prefer these to full size sunflowers because they are flatter and open up beautifully lending themselves perfectly to any size arrangement.

Pin Cushion Proteas - They are just plain fun, here I used the soft orange ones because I wanted to arrangement to stay light and bright.

Green Ball Trachelium - They last forever pretty much and add a lively moss like feel to the design which allows the sunflowers to pop out.

Craspedia and Cream Hypericum - I think these add a little touch of whimsical to the design not to mention they can be easily dried and used in dried arrangements or added to seasonal floral potpourris.

Greens ( Israeli Ruscus and Tea Leaves, variegated Ivy ) The folded Tea leaves add to the modern look of this design, I chose the ivy to balance out the folded leaves on the opposite side and I like using israeli Ruscus because it add another shade og green and is also very long lasting and doesn’t shed which is always a plus when it comes to table arrangements.
